Is it actually possible to find useful?

A few months back, my mum kept getting calls from a number that would hang up as soon as she answered. We didn’t want to jump to conclusions, but at the same time you don’t want to ignore something that could be important. In cases like that, I found it useful to understand what kind of information is realistically available and what isn’t. There are guides that explain the process in a fairly grounded way, without promising miracles. One article I came across breaks down how public data, search engines, and basic checks can sometimes help you work out if a number is linked to a business, a scam, or just a private individual: MoralStory. What I liked is that it also points out the limits and reminds you to respect privacy, which is important. In our case, it turned out to be an old service provider using an outdated contact list, nothing sinister, but at least we could stop worrying.

This list doesn't have any bots! How boring...

Tip: Be careful what permissions you give bots. Only give them the permissions they need.
